Steve Herron Making A Difference Scholarship
Steve Herron was a Woodridge Police Officer for 38 years, serving the last eight years as Chief of Police until his retirement in late 2011. Chief Herron was a tireless advocate for the Woodridge Community Resource Center and the children served by the afterschool and summer programs it offers. Under Chief Herron’s leadership, the scope of the Resource Center grew by offering more diverse programs and opportunities to the children.
Chief Herron has been a long-time member of the Woodridge Rotary Club. The Club subscribes to the Rotary International Four Way Test.
Four Way Test
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Chief Herron has practiced the principles of the Four Way Test and has incorporated them in every aspect of his life. He has made a difference in the lives of others and in the community. Recognizing Chief Herron’s exemplary conduct as a role model for children and his unyielding support of the Community Resource Center, the Woodridge Rotary Club is offering a new scholarship for students who have been involved in the Woodridge Community Resource Center in some way. The scholarship is named the Steve Herron Making a Difference Rotary Scholarship in recognition of all of Chief Herron’s contributions to the Woodridge Community Resource Center and the community.
